What does rig mean in music?

The rigging is all the equipment that is put together to make the sound system work — the “Rig,.” For example, in a scenario where the speakers are “flown” they would be suspended in the area by a system of pulleys, ropes, etc… The sound tech would “rig” that system up before the concert.
